Angela and her husband Tim are both artists, although Tim is a little more sporadic with his art. Angela, our artist in residence, has been drawing and painting as long as she can remember, but purely as a hobby, but now, starting the gallery she is finally doing something that she has wanted to do for a long time - concentrate on her art. Angela is experienced in water colour, acrylics, pastels, pen/Ink, graphite pencil and will try her hand at most subjects - anything from people/animal portraits, buildings, botanical, landscapes, in fact Angela is happy to attempt any subject or commission.
Wood End Gallery is owned by Tim and Angela and it forms part of Wood End Barns, all of which are Grade II Listed buildings.
The farm yard, which was once owned and worked by Angela’s grandfather, unfortunately, fell into disrepair when the farm was no longer used. It stood unused for several years, but then in the late 1990’s it was rescued from an advanced state of dereliction by Tim and Angela. The farm yard comprises a courtyard with the main barn, estimated to be around 300 years old, forming the centre part to the conversion of their home.
Three years ago conversion commenced of the adjoining barn that was once one of the old animal sheds and it this that has now been converted into a purpose built gallery and studio.
The gallery is in memory of Angela’s Mum - Mrs Jean Bennett, who was also an artist.
